Maintenance and Support: With its long service history, there is a well-established network for maintenance and spare parts. Many companies provide MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) services for the IL-76 around the world.
The D-30KP engine, like many other military and commercial engines, requires regular maintenance and periodic overhauls.
This is handled by maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) centres.
The IL-78 uses four D-30KP engines, similar to the IL-76, to enable both military cargo transportation and aerial refuelling. The aircraft can carry a significant amount of fuel, which it transfers to other aircraft in mid-air via its refuelling pods.
It is designed to provide fuel to other aircraft during flight, allowing them to extend their range and operational capabilities. The IL-78 uses similar D-30KP engines as the IL-76, but the aircraft has specialized equipment for aerial refuelling operations.
The IL-78 is essentially a modified IL-76, designed for aerial refuelling but maintaining the same engine configuration. It uses the same D-30KP engines that power the IL-76's transport capabilities.
