Our Capabilities

Engines for the IL-76, IL -78

  • The IL-76 and IL-78 aircraft is powered by D-30KP and D-30KP2 engines, The D-30KP and D-30KP2 is a turbofan engine designed specifically for large aircraft like the IL-76 and IL-78.
  • Efficient Engines: The IL-76 uses D-30KP turbofan engines (in the case of the IL-76 and IL-78 variants), which offer a good balance of power and fuel efficiency for such a large aircraft. This helps in reducing operational costs over long distances.

Engine Type:

  • The IL-78 is powered by the same D-30KP turbofan engines used in the IL-76 aircraft. These engines are designed for high performance and are known for their durability, making them suitable for both transport and refuelling missions.

A list of the availability of capabilities and resources of our partners with whom we organize repairs and services.

  • Availability of a design bureau (DB) for aircraft and engines.
  • Availability of its own scientific and production base for research, repair, modernization, maintenance and operation of IL -76, IL -78 aircraft and D-3OKP (D-3OKP-2) engines installed on them.
  • Availability of highly qualified personnel.
  • Availability of an aviation equipment developer certificate for IL -76, IL -78 aircrafts and D-3OKP (D-3OKP-2) Engines.

Thrust: Approximately 11,800 kgf (kilograms of force), providing the necessary power for the aircraft’s performance.

  • Used on various versions of the IL-76, including both military and civilian cargo aircraft.
  • The engine is designed to provide the necessary power for the IL-76 to carry large and heavy cargo.
  • The IL-76 and IL-78 uses four of the D-30KP engines, ensuring redundancy and enhanced performance. This is crucial for the aircraft's role as a military and civilian transport, capable of operating in diverse conditions, including remote and high-altitude airstrips.
  • D-30KP: The primary engine used in the IL-76 aircraft.

Engine Design

Turbofan engine with a dual-stream design that provides better fuel efficiency and thrust.

Bypass ratio: Moderate bypass ratio suitable for transport aircraft to optimize fuel consumption and performance during cargo flights.

The engine has had multiple modifications and improvements over time, such as the
D-30KP series, used in earlier versions of the IL-76 and similar aircraft.
